Touch Me

I didn't go to writer's group today cause the bus was late and we would have missed the fun parts. BUT my roommate and I did our own writing group at home.

We did a five minute writing. The prompt was walk. (I got it from oneword.com which looks rather interesting, though I won't use it for more than getting the prompt lol)

Anyways, here's what I wrote:
Cole grabbed his coat from behind the door and pulled it on over his shoulder. "I'm going for a walk!" he called as he slipped a glass bottle in his coat pocket. There was no answer; he didn't expect one.
The walk from his large house to the beach wasn't a long one but it was cold. Winter was rolling in and while California didn't have a real winter by Christmas song standards, it did get chilly.
He kept his hands tucked in his pockets, one hand wrapped around the Jones soda bottle.
Yeah, it's not very long. But that's ok. You wanna know why? It's the bare bones of the beginning of my NaNo! I wasn't sure how I was going to start it, but now I do!

On another note, my head is HUGE right now from my ego being stroked, lol. Yesterday was like the day of heaping on praise for my writing from people I don't know. The story I posted last about the girl jumping off the cliff, I posted it in the contest and another person who was entering sent me a message saying she really liked it. That made me smile. Then a girl I was doing a writing commission for on gaia, I finished her stories and sent them to her and she was telling me that she loved them and she's currently ordering four more stories from me. So I'm all... floating on cloud nine. :)

The words for this week (because the people from my writing group are awesome and email the words out) are:

  • radical
  • deposit
  • concubine
  • gourmet
  • disperse or disburse
That's all I can think of for now.

Oh right. As you may have noticed, over there to the right is a word count widget. The top name is me and the bottom is my roommate. It will be showing our word count throughout NaNo! Cheer us on!!

Laters!

PS I can't wait for NaNo!!

  1. Good start to your story. And you've written just enough to tease readers. Good job.
